Happy belated New Year!!

Well clearly we’ve lost our mojo on the blog lately! Sorry everyone! Guess it’s been a bit chaotic since Christmas and some things fell by the wayside.

It seemed everyone got alot of knitting done for Christmas, well I think everyone but me, unfortunately! I’m vowing to do better this year….We’ll just have to see about that.

I’d like to let you all know that we’ll be hosting a “Go Red For Women” presentation at the shop on February 6th. Deniece Cox has very generously offered to organize and deliver this presentation to better help us all understand more about women and heart disease. I’ll have more details about time and such very soon. But please mark it on your calendar and consider coming ….And if you do come, wear Red!

January has gotten away from us, and we were planning on doing a fingerless mitts class. We’ve decided to do this class in February and as soon as we have a date and time, we’ll let you know. We’ve had a lot of interest in a beginner crochet class so we’ll be getting that planned as well. Anyone thinking about taking the plunge and knitting a sweater? We know someone (hey Rosemary…) who whips out (and sometimes rips out…. ) great sweaters, and she’s mentioned that she’d consider doing a class for us. Let us know what you think and we’ll get it going!

We don’t have alot of new yarn right now, as we are preparing to do inventory. But we’re working on new ideas for spring…

It’s almost Christmas!!!

Well I’m again up past my bedtime, and it is officially Christmas Eve. If there’s anymore Christmas knitting and crocheting to be done, the clock is seriously ticking! I hope you all are able to get all the projects you intended to give as gifts finished and lovingly packaged for their intended recipients. More importantly, I hope that the recipients of your handwork truly recieve the love wrapped in every stitch. I know alot of you have really worked hard to make beautiful gifts for the special people on your lists. I on the other hand have not knit nearly as many gifts as I intended. I have fallen short this holiday season, on a number of fronts. I do want each and every one of you that read this blog to know how very glad I am to have met you through the shop and to have you as friends and customers. It’s been more fun than I can tell you!

We’ll be at the shop from 10-2 on Christmas Eve. So if you’re still looking for a last minute stocking stuffer for the knitters or crocheters on your list, come see us. We have gift cards and lots of other goodies to choose from. We got a shipment yesterday of Namaste buddy cases with magnetic surface inside to hold your sissors and small tools in your knitting bag. They are cute! and come in great colors! We also got some Namaste Oh Snap pouches to hold small items in your knitting bag. We have a new yarn by Cascade called Nikki, in 4 colorways. Its a thick and thin wool, great for hats, scarves, mittens and such….We also got some Wool Slub and Wool Boucle from Maggiknits in two colorways. Guess that’s about it for the new stuff right now. Come in and check things out!

As a reminder, we’ll be closed obviously on Christmas, and the day after. We will resume regular hours on Saturday December 27. So come hang out and knit and relax if you can!

Nasty weather on the way….

Hey everyone…Just want to let you know that if it is icy and the weather is bad on Tuesday, we will NOT be opening the shop. So please call the shop to make sure before making a special trip.

No yarn is worth getting into an accident on the roads…not even yarn from Knit 2 Together!!

FYI knitters…. We’ve gotten some new items in the shop this week! We have a few copies of “It Itches” by Franklin Habit, a really cute book of knitting cartoons….We have several copies of Mason Dixon Knitting Outside The Lines, which is a follow up book to the ever popular Mason Dixon Knitting. If any of you are followers of the One Skein Wonders books, we have the newest book called Luxury One-Skein Wonders (101 small indulgences), great patterns for those more expensive single skeins you may have.

We also received some new yarns from Schaefer Yarn. So come in and check things out!

A Great Day at Knit 2 Together

We had lots of fun at Knit 2 Together last Friday. Several people who were on their way to the Extravaganza at Mt. Magazine stopped in, and we were glad to see some regulars that hadn’t been here in a while.

Upcoming classes….

We’ve been a bit lax in the scheduling of classes lately at the shop. We could use some help deciding what to plan in the near future. So perhaps you all could share your opinions about some ideas we have. We’ve thought about doing a Moebius class based on Cat Bordhi’s magical method of casting on. It’s not nearly as complex as it seems, and the possible finished pieces are definitely magical. We’ve also talked about doing a simple beaded scarf class. If you’ve been wanting to try some knitting with beads, let us know and we’ll get a class together. We’re going to hold off on a sweater class until after the New Year when we all will have a bit more time to devote to such a project. We’ve also thought about doing a block of the month type thing. If any of you have heard of “The Great American Afghan”, the blocks are included in that pattern book. You just need to choose a color pallette to work with and every month we’ll work on a new block from the book, with a specific stitch pattern. At the end of the year we’ll have all the makings of a pretty awesome afghan, ready to be assembled. Let me know what you think…and we’ll work out the details.

We have some new colors of the luscious Misti Alpaca chunky yarn coming in very soon. Alot of you are working on the neckwarmers with this yarn and the colorful Tagua Nut buttons. They look amazing! Some folks will be getting some awefully wonderful Christmas gifts. Our Ozark Handspun always makes a really quick and fun knit for those last minute gifts too! We recently got a shipment of Blue Heron handdyed bulky rayon chenille. It’s quite lovely and one skein will make a most generous scarf. We also want to let you know too that we should be receiving our official Knit 2 Together gift cards any day now. They will be reloadable and would make great stocking stuffers for any fiber fanatic you know…or perhaps even you! (Hint hint, Santa…..)

Anyway….we’ve been busy at the shop lately and we thank you all for being a part of our day to day fun! Keep knitting and crocheting for your friends and loved ones, yourself, the community, whoever you can…and please bring your finished work in to show off! We love to see what your doing!
